Civil Service Commission

The Civil Service Commission has been in existence since the city of Wakefield has been chartered. This commission is the are of the city government that tests for all open city positions as mandated by the state of Michigan. When a position becomes available, the commission meets and sets the process into motion.
1. Receive and test all applicants
2. Send all tests into the Michigan Municipal League for scoring
3. The top 6 scores on the Civil Service test are called in
for interviews. John Siira, City Manager has the final say on
who will be hired for the position.
If the position is for an Officier of the city, the city will
promote from within.
