Wakefield-Marenisco High School
The Wakefield-Marenisco School is located on the western end of the Upper Peninsula, along the southeast shore of beautiful Sunday Lake. The first building on site was erected in 1890, and the first high school in 1909. In 2001 Central Elementary School moved into the high school building. By 2003-2004 the renovated high school building housed 4 yr olds - grade 12.
The 2004-2005 school year was the first for the newly consolidated Wakefield-Marenisco School District. The merging of the two communities ended the existence of the respective districts individual schools, but together Wakefield and Marenisco are building an exciting history of their own. Currently, the combined districts have approximately 330 students in grades Pre-K - 12 housed in the Wakefield High School building.
